Realistic 2D Explosions pack + Nuclear Blasts is a sprite-sheet VFX collection for Unity containing 11 explosion effects across three scales: 4 small, 3 large, and 4 nuclear blasts. Every effect was physically simulated using PhoenixFD to produce accurate volumetric smoke, fireball, and pressure-wave behaviour. The pack targets 2D and 2.5D games where billboard-style explosion effects are needed — sprite sheets are platform-agnostic and can be compressed for mobile targets.
Each small and large explosion occupies a single 4096×4096 sprite sheet with 256×256 individual sprites across 256 frames (approximately 8.5 seconds at 30 fps). The four nuclear blasts use two sheets per effect (4096×4096 and 2048×2048) and run to 320 frames (approximately 10.6 seconds at 30 fps). The pack ships 11 ready-to-use prefabs — one per effect — and a demo scene. It was authored against Unity 2019.2.0; projects on significantly newer Unity versions or render pipelines may require minor upgrade work.

The pack was published for Unity 2019.2.0. Because it uses 2D sprite sheets rather than shader-based effects, it is render-pipeline-agnostic (Built-in, URP, and HDRP can all display sprites). Projects on significantly newer Unity versions may encounter minor upgrade prompts but should not require material changes.
11 explosion effects in three categories: 4 small explosions, 3 large explosions, and 4 nuclear blasts. Each comes with a ready-to-use prefab (11 total), and a demo scene is included.
Small and large explosions each use one 4096×4096 sprite sheet with 256×256 individual sprites and 256 frames (~8.5 seconds at 30 fps). Nuclear blasts use two sheets per effect (4096×4096 and 2048×2048) with 256×256 sprites across 320 frames (~10.6 seconds at 30 fps). The sheets can be compressed in Unity's texture import settings for mobile or low-memory targets.
Each explosion was simulated using PhoenixFD, a physically-based fluid-dynamics solver, to capture realistic volumetric smoke, fireball expansion, and pressure-wave detail.
